Moldovans remained only in Transnistria
In Transnistria they preserved the Moldovan language, traditions and writing, while in Moldova they decided to become Romanians.
About this in interview PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky told Izvestia when answering a question.
The publication asked whether the fact that in Transnistria the Moldovan language, which has the status of a state language, was not translated into the Latin alphabet was hindering the establishment of relations with Moldova.
“We speak Moldovan, they speak Romanian. There is no Moldovan language in Moldova now. Whether this is good or bad is not for us to decide. I am not going to interfere in the national and linguistic issues of a foreign state. Their right is to determine their own history and language. They chose the history of the Romanians for themselves. We have preserved the Moldovan ethnicity, the Moldovan language, the Moldovan traditions, the Moldovan written language and the Moldovan identity. If there were no Transnistria, then today on planet Earth, by and large, the Moldovan nationality would not exist. There would only be Romanians. This fact is quite tragic,” said.
