The future of Moldova depends on a compromise with Transnistria. Deputy Konstantin Zatulin stated this today, speaking at the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

“The formula for the future of Moldova depends on a mutually acceptable compromise with Transnistria. If it is not achieved, the future of Moldova is in great doubt. Moldova will inevitably turn into part of Romania if it does not find a common language with Transnistria. But looking for it by establishing posts, putting pressure and intimidating Transnistria is the wrong path. We must declare this decisively,” Zatulin said, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
He believes the text of the statement on Transnistria, adopted today by the Russian parliament, could have been tougher. In addition, the deputy proposed to encourage Russian business to invest in the PMR.
“We need to give Pridnestrovians access not only to high-tech medical care in Russia, but also to maternity capital. Are we going to get poorer from this? This gesture would be greeted with enthusiasm in Transnistria. We need to convince the people living there that Russia will never abandon them,” Zatulin said.
