Moldova returns to the CIS
The Parliament of Moldova will resume work in the CIS.
Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament Zinaida Greceanii stated this today in Moscow at the “Development of Parliamentarism” forum, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The previous government blocked our country’s participation in such an important platform as the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly. We want to return to this important international platform for us. For the first time, Moldova has the opportunity to pursue a balanced policy based on mutually beneficial cooperation. We can fully restore Russian-Moldovan relations,” Greceanii promises.
Let us recall that Moldova ceased its participation in the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly in March 2017 by the decision of the representative of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM), Andrian Candu, who then held the post of Speaker of Parliament.
This decision was preceded by a diplomatic scandal that erupted due to the fact that the Moldovan government recommended that officials not travel to Russia.
