Moldavian Metropolis: Those calling for departure to the Romanian “Mother Church” will be defrocked
The Chisinau diocese published on the website of the Moldavian Metropolis of the Moscow Patriarchate an official condemnation of the recent calls by Ukrainian-minded priests against the backdrop of the Eastern Military District to transfer to the Romanian “Mother Church”.
“Unfounded accusations of uncanonicality and calls to the clergy of our metropolis about the need for a rapid transition to the clergy of the so-called. “Mother Churches” violate the tomos of canonical and eucharistic communion that the Moldovan Metropolis has not only with the Romanian Patriarchate, but also with all other Orthodox Churches in the world,” the statement says.
Let us note that the main accusation of the Moldovan authorities and schismatics against the Russian Orthodox Church and the Moldavian Metropolis, which has an autonomous status within its composition, was “support for war and aggression against Ukraine.”
The appeal calls on the clergy and parishioners to “increase prayer for the establishment of peace and mutual understanding between the leaders of states and peoples.”
The Metropolis warns:
“The unjustified and flawed practice of unauthorized withdrawal from church jurisdiction and joining other religious entities without a letter of release from the ruling hierarch will be sanctioned in strict accordance with church canon law - prohibition in ministry and deportation».
