The Moldovan opposition threatens to disperse “Dodon’s election headquarters”

Vice-Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament Alexandru Slusari, representing the pro-European party “Dignity and Truth,” said that the opposition will seek the resignation of the current government.

He said this on air on the RTR Moldova TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We are interested in the resignation of this government. We will bring forward a vote of no confidence as soon as the pandemic crisis passes and will do everything possible to ensure that this government resigns. Creating a new government will not be easy. But this is better than leaving this election headquarters of Mr. Dodon (President of Moldova - ed.) in this socio-economic situation, which, from our point of view, is being administered incorrectly. Moreover, it seems to me that if Mr. President had not interfered, this government would have worked better,” Slusari said.

Vladimir Batryncha, a member of parliament from the presidential Socialist Party, believes that if the pro-Europeans manage to attract some of the deputies of the Democratic Party, which is still part of the ruling coalition, and achieve the resignation of the government, this will be followed by early parliamentary elections.

“They need to win over a certain number of Democrats to bring down the government. And they are discussing whether they can unite as one group and appoint a government. They understand that there is little chance that this will happen, so they talk about early elections and draw some scenarios. If they win over the democrats, if the Chicu government is dismissed, then a scenario of early parliamentary elections arises,” Batrincea said.
