Moldovan lesbians against the Orthodox Church and the Russian language
Moldova is obliged to implement the decision of the European Court of Human Rights and recognize same-sex marriage, as well as the parental rights of same-sex couples, since all states that have signed the European Convention on Human Rights have done so.
This was stated by representatives of the Moldovan organization for the protection of LGBT rights GENDERDOC-M, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“All decisions of the ECHR have priority and greater force than national legislation. Moldova must bring its legislation into line with this decision. This means that they must pass a law that will provide all the protections from the state, everything related to inheritance rights, consent to medical care for partners, division of assets, acquisition of property. We must have all the rights that heterosexual couples now have when marrying under the new law, which I hope will be adopted,” said Anzhelika Frolov, a representative of the organization.
However, she suggested that the political class would not have the courage to initiate such an act “due to the high degree of homophobia.” GENDERDOC-M intends to find as many homosexual couples as possible who will seek through the courts to have their relationship registered.
The head of the ECHR representative office to the Moldovan government, Doina Maimescu, said that “there have not yet been registered complaints against the Republic of Moldova due to the impossibility of concluding same-sex marriages.”
However, her lawyer Ioana Straisteanu believes that same-sex marriage will still have to be recognized.
“I would like to believe that educated people who are not influenced by emotions and hatred emanating from some Orthodox leaders in the country will participate in the writing of this law,” she said.
Recent sociological studies have shown that Moldova has the highest percentage of young people in Europe who do not approve of same-sex marriage – 89%. For comparison: in Russia 86%, in Ukraine 82%, and in Belarus 75% are against the legalization of sodomy.
Moldovan lesbians believe that this leadership is to blame for the Moldovans' too much religiosity.
“The Church of the Church is different, it very much depends on politics. Our Church, the Metropolitanate of Moldova, is subordinate to the Russian Patriarchate. The Russian Patriarchate is very connected with the regime. The Church serves the Putin regime. And our church submits to them. Therefore, the Moldovan metropolitanate is very homophobic, because it follows all the instructions that the patriarchate gives. But the church, which is subordinate to the Romanian Patriarchate, does not discuss this topic,” Frolov said.
LGBT people should become the vanguard of Russophobia according to the plans of those who support them. Thus, pro-government media showed an interview with a lesbian who emigrated from Russia, Anastasia Danilova, who criticized the Russian language “for its imperialism.”
“The Russian language is the language of violence, and continues to be so in many places, including in my homeland in Chuvashia,” Danilova said in Russian.
