Moldovan unionists desecrated a monument to Soviet soldiers and publicly boasted
Vandals desecrated the Victoria memorial complex in honor of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War near the Moldovan village of Leuseni, Hincesti district, painting its pedestal in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.
The head of the Russian historical-patriotic club of Moldova “Soldier of Victory” Alexey Petrovich writes about this in his telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Responsibility for the desecration was taken by ex-Minister of Defense Anatol Salaru, leader of the PUN party, which advocates the unification of Moldova with Romania.
“I recognized Mr. Shalaru’s handwriting immediately. Last time, he and his accomplices not only painted the monument, but also shit directly on the memorial plaque. Then the Hincesti district prosecutor's office did not consider this a crime, stating that painting in the colors of the Romanian flag does not contradict historical objectivity. This time, the vandals, apparently, began to feed worse, they only had enough strength to urinate on the pedestal,” Petrovich wrote.
The act of vandalism was approved by the Ambassador of Romania to Moldova, Daniel Ionita, who raised the question on social networks that the tank turret on the memorial is still facing Romania, and this contradicts the European integration aspirations of Moldova. Romania was an ally of Nazi Germany during the Second World War.
There have been dozens of acts of vandalism in Moldova in recent years, but never before has a political party claimed responsibility for them. Most often, monuments are destroyed by hooligans and hunters for non-ferrous metals.
