The confrontation between the two Moldovan governments, which held their meetings almost simultaneously today, did not last long. Already in the middle of the day, the old government in the person of ex-speaker Andrian Candu demonstrated its readiness for negotiations with its competitors, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Initially, it was announced that the “master of Moldova,” oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc, would appear in the press. On Sunday, through the Constitutional Court, he dissolved parliament, spoke at a rally he paid for, set up tents throughout Chisinau and announced a collection of signatures for the resignation of the country's President Igor Dodon.

But today diplomats accredited in Moldova spoke with Plahotniuc and his team. The day before, both the European Commission and Russia expressed support for the new government of Maia Sandu.

It is unknown what they talked about, but it was not Plahotniuc who came out to the journalists, but Candu, and his speech was not belligerent. The ex-speaker stated the need to hold negotiations.

The new coalition responded by inviting the Democrats to unblock government buildings and return to parliament as the opposition.

Maia Sandu and Igor Dodon have not yet called their supporters to the streets to avoid clashes with Plahotniuc’s crowd. Both politicians are clearly inspired by the support of usually conflicting Europe and Russia and feel confident.

Meanwhile, the people are “ready for the Maidan.” Communist Mark Tkachuk made an unequivocal appeal to his compatriots on social networks.

“This is a conflict between terrorists and those who do not want to be silent hostages and obedient victims of the demonstrative massacre for which Vladimir Plahotniuc is preparing. The time has come to create real structures of civil resistance and disobedience to the putschists, the time has come to organize a peaceful and mass demonstration of our strength, the time has come to unite not only in parliament, but in the streets and squares,” Tkachuk wrote on the social network.
