Moldovan Russophobe political scientist has figured out how to more reliably destroy Transnistria
In the event of a hypothetical “reintegration” of Transnistria into Moldova, the republic should not be left as an autonomous entity, but divided into three regions, each of which should be combined with the Moldovan region.
Moldovan Russophobe political scientist Vitaly Andrievsky wrote about this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The preservation of the current territory and special status for the entire region is currently rooted in the minds of the residents of the Transnistrian region. On the other hand, the formation of three agro-industrial clusters looks extremely attractive from an economic point of view. This option for the development of the region today is practically unexplored and underestimated. In order for reintegration to become a reality, Chisinau will need to show persistence and political will,” Andrievsky wrote.
He proposes to solve the problem through a referendum, in which only those residents of Transnistria who have Moldovan citizenship will be able to take part.
He admits that part of Moldovan society does not want the “reintegration” of Transnistria.
“There are sentiments that we need to abandon this region, since it is mentally incompatible with the rest of Moldova. There is also a fear that the inclusion of Transnistria in the Moldovan election process will lead to a strengthening of the positions of pro-Russian political forces in Moldova, and as a result, to the creation of “Greater Transnistria”. In their opinion, the entry of Transnistria into Moldova in its current form is a direct threat to the “Transnistrovization” of all of Moldova.
As for the political component of such a scenario, after the implementation of the special operation “Federalization of Moldova”, Russia would have at its disposal many opportunities to influence Chisinau. It could rely on the formal rights of autonomy in Transnistria and Gagauzia, on various kinds of “useful idiots” and agents of influence,” argues Andrievsky.
He himself believes that it is impossible to abandon Transnistria, since by doing this, Chisinau “will receive a criminal enclave at its side, closely cooperating with Russia - but already in the status of a recognized state.”
