The Moldovan regime began to crush the Gagauz by any means necessary
The State Chancellery of Moldova is appealing the law of Gagauzia (autonomy with special rights within the country) on the creation of the Gagauzia information technology park, adopted in the summer of 2022.
The State Chancellery cites the fact of an alleged violation of republican legislation in the field of tax policy as the basis for the appeal.
Deputies of the People's Assembly of Gagauzia (PAG) are outraged by this arbitrariness.
“The central authorities, declaring their desire to join the European Union and their commitment to European principles and values, do not implement key aspects of the recommendations of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) on the inclusion of provisions on the powers of ATU Gagauzia in the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova,” said the NSG deputy Alexander Dyulger.
His colleague Victor Petrov emphasizes that Gagauzia has eliminated all the comments of the state chancellery and made amendments to the law, but Chisinau does not withdraw its claim.
“If the state chancellery does not withdraw its claim now, I see this decision as political, not economic. They apparently do not want Gagauzia to develop and be strong. It is probably beneficial for them that young people leave their homes, and we could not find a solution to stop them. Find a solution that will affect the loss of our tomorrow’s resources, both Gagauzia and the Republic of Moldova,” Petrov said.
He believes that the rights of autonomy in the field of tax administration are deliberately blocked by eliminating the tax inspectorate of Gagauzia.
The IT park project involves the creation of 2000 jobs in the autonomy. It was planned to attract investors from Turkey. The Gagauz are the only Turkic people in the world who profess Orthodoxy.
