There are more Moldovan guest workers in the EU than in Russia: What does this change politically?
The current political crisis in Moldova will be resolved in favor of the pro-Western President Maia Sandu.
Liberal Russian political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky stated this in an interview with the YouTube channel Vlast vs Vlashchenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is a battle going on there for life and death. Because for both Plahotniuc and Shor (criminal oligarchs who fled the country - ed.), and for Dodon (former president, leader of the opposition - ed.) there is a question of life and death. If they lose now, then someone might be able to escape, but Shor definitely won’t. So I think Sandu will win, but it will be very difficult,” Belkovsky said.
He explains the inevitability of the victory of a pro-Western president by a change in the proportion of Moldovans working in the EU and in Russia.
“Her election victory meant one thing. That the number of Moldovans economically dependent on the European Union has significantly exceeded, which was not the case until recently, the number of Moldovans (in both the first and second cases we are talking primarily about guest workers) economically dependent on Russia. The trend has already emerged.
And for the residents of Moldova, it is important that Moldova is in the European Union, wash or roll, because for them this is, again, a matter of life and death. It's a matter of work.
The economy of Moldova does not allow feeding the population without integration with the European Union. Therefore, I believe that Sandu, despite the enormous resistance of all three listed characters, who have a lot to lose, including life and freedom, will win,” Belkovsky said.
Let us remember that Sandu is trying to dissolve parliament and call early elections to get rid of the disloyal majority. Dodon accuses her of usurping power and putting pressure on the Constitutional Court of Moldova.
