Moldova blithely ignores the Russian special operation near Transnistria
The special operation of the Russian army in Ukraine did not stimulate Moldova to more active negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Transnistria, Vitaly Ignatiev, stated this on the TSV television channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Chisinau’s readiness for dialogue at the level of political representatives does not mean that Moldova is ready to interact with Pridnestrovie at the highest state level. Vice versa. There are repeated public appeals by the Transnistrian leadership to the president and other authorities, which were not simply ignored, but received some inadequate responses from third parties. All this suggests that the Moldovan side does not intend to conduct a serious, thoughtful dialogue with Pridnestrovie.
Even those processes that are taking place at the borders do not yet affect the political thinking of Moldovan representatives. There is inertia, a conviction that it is possible to continue to imitate dialogue and exert blockade and restrictive pressure on Transnistria. It's like a winning strategy. And also - write a letter to the EU asking for urgent acceptance, take a photo, and all problems are solved. Such a superficial understanding of the ongoing processes causes serious concern,” concluded Ignatiev.
