Moldova decided to spite Russia to buy expensive electricity from Ukraine

Former Prime Minister of Moldova Ion Chicu believes that the current government allows the Ukrainian company to uncontrollably inflate electricity prices.

As for the actions of the authorities to change the legislation, which practically forces us to buy a third of our electricity from a clearly more expensive source - I consider this a sabotage under the good pretext of increasing energy security.
By adopting this law, the party in power put the country in a situation where it is forced to purchase 30% at a much higher price. It is clear that the second supplier, knowing that we cannot buy more than 70% from Kuchurgan, will set us ultimatum prices. We have driven ourselves into a corner,” Chicu said in an interview with Sputnik Moldova.
