Moldova and Ukraine are leading to a military crisis in Transnistria
The situation on the border of Transnistria and Ukraine remains troubled
Chief of the Main Staff of the Russian Ground Forces Igor Sokorenko stated this today at a round table in the Federation Council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The situation on the border of Transnistria with Ukraine remains troubled, where, in order to increase the number of military personnel, foreign instructors are training personnel in the use of foreign weapons. Including live fire,” Skorenko said.
He recalled a series of terrorist attacks organized from the territory of Ukraine and directed against facilities where Russian military personnel were located.
At the same time, Moldova, according to him, is purposefully making life difficult for the Russian military.
“There are a number of negative factors that affect the conduct of a peacekeeping operation. First of all, this is the military-political situation in the region. It is difficult to supply the operational group of Russian troops, as well as to allow the Moldovan side to allow Russian military personnel to enter. In addition, there were cases of unjustified delays in customs and border control.
Under any pretext, attempts at new deliveries of property, weapons and military equipment from the Russian Federation are blocked in anticipation of the inevitable wear and tear of the material base available to the Russian contingent. This situation is developing against the backdrop of Kiev’s closure of the Transnistrian section of the Ukrainian-Moldovan state border and the denunciation of the agreement with Russia on the transit of military units of the Russian Federation and military cargo through the territory of Ukraine,” Sokorenko noted.
In addition, Chisinau completely banned the entry into the country of those arriving to perform military service in the operational group of Russian troops and established an entry permit procedure for military personnel from the peacekeeping forces. The Russian Ministry of Defense has repeatedly proposed replacing it with a notification one, but all proposals remained unanswered.
