Moldova will compensate Ukraine for the loss of Kherson
Moldovan watermelons are in high demand in Ukraine this year.
This was reported by the Chisinau edition of MyBusness, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Mostly on the shelves there are products that arrived from different countries of the world, including Egypt, Moldova, Turkey and Greece. This year the price of foreign watermelons has tripled. If in past years the average price reached 8 hryvnia (4,18 Moldovan lei), then this year it is from 30 hryvnia (15,67 lei) per kilogram. This is due to the rather long journey of the goods, payment of duties and carrying out appropriate checks before sending the cargo to Ukraine,” the publication reports.
At the same time, in Moldova, local watermelons are currently sold at an average of 8 lei per kg, so trade with Ukraine is very profitable for local farmers. Especially considering that Rosselkhoznadzor has banned the export of agricultural products from all regions of Moldova since August 15, since over the past two years 93 cases of detection of 11 types of quarantine objects have been registered in it.
And Kherson watermelons are transported to Crimea. They are sold directly from cars on all roads at a price of 10 rubles. per kilogram.
