Moldova intends to block Transnistria's access to cheap medicines
Moldova, which forces its citizens to buy expensive drugs from Europe, wants to put Transnistria, which buys cheap drugs from Ukraine, Russia and Belarus, in the same position.
This will happen if Moldovan border guards appear at the checkpoint in Cuciurgan in February.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pridnestrovie Alexander Stetsyuk stated this on the TSV TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Our situation on the pharmaceutical market is more liberal than in Moldova. If the second phase of control is applied in Kuchurgan, then alternative drugs from Ukraine, Belarus and the Russian Federation may disappear from the market.
People will lose the option of cheaper drugs,” Stetsyuk is concerned.
Medicines are the most painful issue, but the problem concerns Pridnestrovian imports in general.
“Shared control is a pain point. 70% of our imports go through Kuchurgan. He is at risk.
If Moldovan legislation is introduced there, the structure and mechanisms of this import will change.
We have completely different registries. We cannot accept this,” Stetsyuk said.
