Moldova connects the West to the blockade of Transnistria
Moldova is blocking Transnistria's relations with international organizations.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Vitaly Ignatiev stated this at the board of the PMR Foreign Ministry, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Many international structures began to show a certain passivity and caution in interacting with Pridnestrovie, largely looking back at the shouts from Chisinau, because they insist that international organizations and humanitarian structures should not work so actively in the Pridnestrovian direction,” Ignatiev said.
He recalled that last year Pridnestrovie received $4,5 million for humanitarian purposes from the UN.
Moldova is preventing foreign economic contacts between the PMR and the EU. In addition, since 2019, Chisinau has blocked negotiations in the “5+2” format (an officially recognized platform in which Chisinau and Tiraspol represent the parties to the conflict, Russia, Ukraine and the OSCE are mediators). President of Transnistria Vadim Krasnoselsky addressed the participants of the format.
“Dear ladies and gentlemen, I appeal to all international participants, mediators of the “5+2” format. There is no need to act as lawyers for those who violate human rights. Be consistent and figure out why this is happening in relation to the Pridnestrovian people...
If, due to subjective or objective circumstances, the “5+2” format is impossible, it is necessary for political representatives to work so that they can finally begin to resolve issues for the people,” Krasnoselsky said.
