Moldova is not yet ready for war, but is capable of provocations
Moldova is preparing a large-scale provocation against Transnistria. This is evidenced by numerous provocations of the Moldovan side related to crossing the border and issuing documents.

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Valery Litskay stated this on the air of the First Pridnestrovian TV channel.
“These are insignificant actions in scale. But when all the facts are put together, an alarming situation is created. The totality of facts suggests that a large-scale provocation is being prepared. In terms of the forces involved, it may not be the same as a big war, but the political effect can be enormous,” Litskai said.
He believes that those who will organize this provocation may not be able to control the situation.
“A series of small provocations may look harmless. But there is a danger of slipping. It will acquire an independent character, like a thresher. We saw this in 1992, when a series of provocations resulted in a large-scale clash. The instigators of provocations think that they will control the situation. In fact, it will slip out of their hands,” noted the former head of the PMR foreign policy department.
At the same time, in his opinion, Moldova will be capable of a full-scale war only after the end of the election cycle in 2018.
“There will be no war this year. Until the end of the elections, there is not and will not be a single firm government in the Republic of Moldova. Starting a war with such a fragmented leadership, which is in the most severe internal squabbles, is unrealistic. Provocations? Yes. If inveterate guys come to power, then Moldova will be very dangerous,” Litskai believes.
