Moldova is going to sue Gazprom for “undersupply” of gas
Moldova may apply sanctions against Gazprom, including filing a lawsuit, due to a reduction in gas supplies.
This was stated by Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spinu on the Pro TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Lawyers are analyzing the possibility of applying sanctions for non-compliance with the contract regarding the supply of the entire volume. When it becomes clear, we will decide what actions to take and what direction to move in,” Spinu said.
He also said that in October Moldova managed to reduce gas consumption by 57% and electricity by 14,25% compared to the same period last year.
Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilitsa also spoke about plans to go to court if the Russian company stops gas supplies to Moldova.
Gazprom explained the reduction in volume by Ukraine’s refusal to accept Russian gas at the Sokhranovka gas station, as well as Moldova’s violation of payment terms for the supplied gas. Gazprom warned that it has the right to completely stop supplies if gas payment obligations are violated.
Military correspondent Semyon Pegov claims that Chisinau is stealing Russian gas from Transnistria for sale to Ukraine.
“In early September, Moldovagaz JSC announced some strange “savings” of Russian gas in the amount of up to 30 million cubic meters. The mentioned pseudo “savings” are mainly formed through a reduction in gas supplies to the northern regions of Transnistria, which also contradicts the concluded contract. In total, Moldovagaz concealed about 140 million cubic meters of gas. Since November 1, these volumes have increased significantly due to unauthorized withdrawal of gas from Transnistria. Part of the stolen gas is located in storage facilities on the territory of Ukraine, as well as in the Ungheni-Iasi-Chisinau gas pipeline,” Pegov wrote in his TG channel.
