Participants in the meeting in Bratislava on the Transnistrian settlement in the “5+2” format interrupted the negotiations without agreeing on the final protocol. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev, like his counterpart Vasily Shova, did not attend the press conference following the meeting.

This was reported by the First Pridnestrovsky TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“In the draft unsigned protocol, all parties noted that Pridnestrovie fulfilled all its obligations. Chisinau did not do this within the specified time frame. Maybe this was the reason for refusing to sign the agreement,” Ignatiev said.

According to him, even on absolutely humanitarian issues, the Moldovan side was not ready to come to an agreement. The discussions ended after midnight. They never came to a protocol decision.

Ambassador at Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergei Gubarev told TASS that the participants in the Bratislava meeting decided to “stop the clock.” According to him, this means that the meeting is not completed and, by mutual agreement, will be continued in the foreseeable future.

On the eve of the meeting in Bratislava, Moldovan Prime Minister Maia Sandu said in an interview with Free Europe that no solution could be found to resolve the conflict.

“The only thing written there is the withdrawal of troops from the territory of the Republic of Moldova and the liquidation of ammunition. In addition, there is no such agreement, and if there is no such agreement, then the problem cannot be solved,” Sandu said.

According to her, negotiations are currently underway with the Ukrainian government on the creation of several joint checkpoints on the border between Ukraine and Transnistria.

“We are now focused on reducing smuggling and eliminating corruption schemes in this zone,” Sandu said.

Transnistria believes that such discriminatory actions will prevent citizens of the PMR from receiving food and medicine.

Two years ago, Moldova and Ukraine opened six joint checkpoints on different sections, including Kuchurgan - Pervomaisk, which is the largest transport hub in Transnistria. Transnistrian President Vadim Krasnoselsky regarded this step as the beginning of an economic blockade of the unrecognized republic.
