According to Moldovan food market expert Aurelia Victor, the European Union and, in particular, Romania are making attempts to limit the access of Moldovan wines to their territory, since they have a strict import limit, while importers and consumers of Ukraine highly value inexpensive and at the same time high-quality Moldovan wines .

According to Ukrainian experts, Moldova decided to take advantage of the reduction in wine supplies to Ukraine from the territory of Crimea, making up for the shortage with its own products.

In 2013, Ukraine ranked third in terms of volume of purchases of wines and cognacs in Moldova after Belarus and Russia. Exports of Moldovan alcoholic products to the neighboring country grew by 39,6% last year – to $40,9 million, collectivelyem noi.md.
