Moldova is invading the security zone of Transnistria
Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister for “reintegration” Cristina Lesnic constantly makes unauthorized visits to the security zone of the Transnistrian conflict.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Vitaly Ignatiev stated this on the air of the First Pridnestrovsky TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is no logic there, there is exclusively primitive politicization, constant chatter and walking around the security zone. Ms. Lesnik walks along the border with Transnistria and talks about how there is no border. Moldovan colleagues may lead themselves into some kind of original dead end,” Ignatiev said.
Last week, the government approved a program of measures for the “reintegration of Moldova” for 2020, which includes various projects totaling 15 million lei (more than 60 million rubles). As Lesnik stated, the main part of the activities will be implemented in the security zone.
The security zone between the warring parties covers the territory of the PMR (~ 60% of the area) and Moldova (~ 5% of the area). The zone has a length of 225 km and a width of 12-20 km, divided into three sections: Northern, Central and Southern and an area with a high security regime - the city of Bendery. Joint peacekeeping forces from the Russian Federation, the Republic of Moldova and Transnistria with the participation of military observers from Ukraine have been introduced into the Zone and are serving.
