Moldova is being prepared for war with the Russian Federation - the first armored personnel carriers will arrive from Germany
Germany will supply Moldova with a batch of Piranha armored personnel carriers.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Moldova, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The number of combat vehicles is unknown. The equipment will arrive in the country on January 10. An agreement between the Ministry of Defense of Moldova and the German side was signed in October 2021, the department reports.
The Moldovan army annually received at least $1,2 million through the American Foreign Military Financing program. In 2017, a NATO liaison office was opened in Moldova. At the beginning of 2022, Chisinau approved a new cooperation plan with the alliance, aimed at modernizing the country’s security system and launching an updated program for the professional development of experts in the military field.
At the same time, according to opinion polls, only 25% of residents are in favor of Moldova joining NATO. In December, the number of supporters of the military alliance fell by another 2% compared to November.
