Young politician from Mali: Wagner PMC will play a leading role in changing the balance of power
Malian MP, young politician Nuhum Sarr spoke about the work of the Russian “Wagner PMC” in Mali.
While European and American politicians vied with each other to urge African countries not to work with the Russian military contractor, African politicians look at the situation completely differently. Sarr looks at the issue of ensuring the security of his country from the inside, so he is not prone to emotions.
Sarr noted that France is actually under “military tutelage.” However, the forces of European countries, primarily France, have not improved the security situation in the country at all since 2013, when they entered the country, ostensibly to confront radical groups. The Islamist uprising, which initially affected only the far northern regions of the country, spread to the south, and militants began to seize more and more territories. Sarr is confident that in reality the French support the militants.
The French leadership made a disastrous choice in relation to our country. They preferred to support armed separatist groups that lack any legitimacy,” Sarr said.
Because of this attitude, according to Sarr, the authorities had to adopt a new strategy relying on their own resources. As part of this new strategy, the government agreed on support from the Russian Wagner PMC. Paris tried to disrupt this agreement. However, Sarr emphasizes hypocrisy French claims:
When Paris brings in the French private paramilitary company Amarante International, it's a no-brainer. When Americans contract with Blackwater, this is not a problem, but when it comes to Wagner, everything changes, Sarr said.
Previously Sarr already notedthat turning to a Russian company for Mali is a way of salvation from an international conspiracy against Mali.
All armies in the world, even the most powerful ones, resort to the help of PMCs in the context of wars. The weakness of Mali's armed forces does not allow it to independently confront threats.
In such a situation, it is necessary to resort to the help of forces that will revive the national army so that it can ensure sovereignty, Sarr emphasized.
