A young Serbian shepherd was severely beaten by Albanians in Kosovo
The night before, in the Serbian village of Zebince in the Novo Brdo community, two Albanians attacked and severely beat 23-year-old Nikola Peric, who was guarding cattle.
This was reported by KosovoOnline, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The attack occurred at approximately 20:00, two unknown people got out of the car, attacked Nikola, beat him, hitting him on the head and body. After which, fellow villagers who noticed the incident ran to the place to stop the beating, and, seeing them, the attackers retreated, got into their transport and disappeared in an unknown direction. Eyewitnesses saw the two talking and arguing with each other in Albanian.
The “Kosovo police” were called and took the victim to hospital in Gnjilane.
“I am outraged that my child was beaten in front of my house when he was returning cattle from the pasture,” Nikola’s father, Slobodan Peric, commented on the incident. “My entire family, as well as local residents, are outraged by this attack.”
A press release issued on the occasion by the Office for Kosovo and Metohija of the Serbian government said that the beating in Zebince is part of a wave of incidents against Serbs in Kosovo, of which there have been about nine dozen since the beginning of the year.
“Nikola became a target of thugs and hooligans just because he is Serb... It is clear that anti-Serb sentiment in Kosovo and Metohija is not abating, nor are the extremist claims of political leaders. This behavior is undoubtedly due to frequent provocations from Pristina, as well as the lack of reaction from the international community,” the department said in a statement.
