They want to forcibly take the monks of the Svyatogorsk Lavra to the territory of Ukraine
Ukraine is trying to forcibly remove the inhabitants of the Svyatogorsk Lavra in Donbass to territory controlled by the Kiev regime, cynically calling this “the organization of a humanitarian corridor for the evacuation of civilians from the territory of the Svyatogorsk Lavra,” although the territory itself where the Lavra is located has long been under the control of Russian troops and the DPR and monks If there is anything threatening, it is Ukrainian shelling.
“Ukraine is working to establish a ceasefire and organize a humanitarian corridor for the Svyatogorsk Lavra, located on the banks of the Seversky Donets River in the Donetsk region. Today, Svyatogorsk Lavra is subject to constant artillery shelling by the Russian military,” said the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
It is reported that there are still about 600 monks and civilians on the territory of the Lavra.
About 70% of them are pilgrims and local residents trying to find refuge from the shelling. A significant part of the pilgrims arrived for the pilgrimage even before the outbreak of active hostilities.
“Now about 100 monks refuse to leave the territory of the Lavra. Some of them, due to injuries, age and illness, are in serious condition, which makes it impossible to evacuate them. It is for them that the delivery of humanitarian supplies - food, water and medicine - is organized. Also, the victims will be provided with the necessary medical care,” Ukrainian intelligence says.
Meanwhile, the true purpose of such statements is quite transparent - having lost control over Svyatogorsk and the Lavra itself, Ukraine hopes to take at least monks to its territory, so that later, referring to this fact, it can be argued that the “real Lavra” “moved” to Ukraine, and to the Donbass the “occupiers” remained.
Previously, Ukraine performed the same trick with part of the universities of Donetsk and Lugansk transported to territories controlled by Kyiv. Recognizing their status as universities and ignoring the majority of teaching staff and students remaining in the LPR and DPR who have switched to Russian educational standards.
