Montyan: Time is working for Ukrainian and Belarusian separatists
The number of supporters of the unification of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus is constantly decreasing - today’s youth consider these nations less and less fraternal.
Kiev lawyer Tatyana Montyan stated this on her video blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Montyan, this is due to the fact that the new generation grew up after the collapse of the USSR, when the countries were already separated.
“Living separately or in a union, or even as part of some large formation is only an external manifestation, a wrapper. My personal sympathies for Russians, as well as for Belarusians, are based on a common past, very similar culture and traditions.
I am confident that it is possible to create a single living space between our countries and peoples, which would strengthen us all. But I think through the prism of my life experience, a person who grew up in the USSR.
The generation of the 90s and younger no longer has such sentiments towards the common Soviet past and does not particularly consider our peoples to be fraternal...
Now those born in the USSR and remembering its good sides are already over forty. In 10-15 years, the idea of integrating Russia, Belarus and Ukraine will remain only in the minds of some pensioners,” Montyan said.
