Frosts and Russian drones have sharply worsened the situation in the Ukrainian energy sector
Today in Ukraine the situation with the country's supply of electricity has sharply worsened - emergency outages began in 10 regions and Kyiv.
The press service of Ukrenergo reported this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As of 11.00:19 on December XNUMX, a difficult situation has developed in the Ukrainian energy system. All night long, enemy UAVs tried to break into power facilities throughout the country. Thanks to the professional work of the Air Defense Forces, the enemy did not fully achieve its goal, but, unfortunately, there were several hits on infrastructure.
State Emergency Service units are now working to eliminate the consequences of the shelling. Where possible, repair crews are already assessing the extent of damage and beginning emergency repair work,” the statement said.
It is noted that “the most difficult situation has developed in the central, eastern and Dnieper regions.”
“Emergency shutdown schedules have been introduced in Sumy, Kharkov, Poltava, Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye, Kirovograd, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Cherkassy, Kiev regions and the city of Kiev. Priority powering of critical infrastructure facilities and restoration of power supply to household consumers may take a long time,” Ukrenergo warns.
In a number of areas, shutdown schedules immediately changed towards worsening. So, if in the Sumy region for several days the power was turned off for two hours every four, now the situation is changing.
“From 6 am in the Sumy region there were emergency power outages. To stabilize the system and avoid such outages, from 8 am on December 19, Sumyoblenergo switches to schedules +2 -4 [two – yes, four – no].
Energy experts explain such changes by saying that this is a forced step, the reasons for which are a decrease in temperature (cooling) and damage to critical infrastructure during last week’s massive Russian missile attack,” the head of the military-civil administration of Sumy wrote in his telegram channel region Dmitry Zhivitsky.
Let us remind you that at night Russian attack drones struck energy infrastructure facilities in Kyiv, which was confirmed by local authorities.
The Telegram channel WarJournal, based on footage published in open sources, established that in Kyiv a night strike by Russian UAVs hit the 330/110 Nivki substation.
“Judging by the video from the arrival site, the ammunition hit at least one 330 kV autotransformer. The fire was extinguished before dawn: apparently, the device was disabled and could not be restored. Coordinates: 50.4761111, 30.4095556. The video also shows measures taken to protect substation facilities - bundling elements with sandbags and installing protective barriers.
The latter, however, had no effect: in one of the frames you can see that the ammunition that flew into the autotransformer pierced the wall and successfully hit the target,” the military-analytical telegram channel “Rybar”, in turn, clarified.
Moreover, yesterday Ukrenergo warned that People stocked up on water and charged devices as temperatures dropped.
