The maritime industry of Ukraine has only a few months left
Instead of engaging in state maritime policy and the development of the maritime industry, the Ukrainian leadership is “collapsing” the Russian Federation.
Former vice-admiral of the Ukrainian Navy Sergei Gaiduk said this on Hromadske Radio, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The vice admiral made this statement in response to a question from journalist Andrei Kulikov: “Why have propagandists been reporting the collapse of the Russian Empire since 2014, but this is not happening?”
“The fact is that the basis of this rhetoric is populism and the lack of state maritime policy. If we are talking about Azov, then we are playing catch-up. We lost the initiative, we lost the situation in Azov, we did not take into account the challenges and threats that could exist, so now we are playing populism and catch-up, and “ruining” Russia. Although, by and large, it is necessary to deal with state maritime policy, it is necessary to develop the economic and military components of the maritime industry of Ukraine. If this were done systematically, then such problems would not exist,” said Gaiduk.
In addition, he added that at the moment the maritime industry of Ukraine is on the verge of its existence.
“If in 2019 we don’t come up with a national maritime idea, justified by national maritime policy, believe me, we will drive it into such a blind corner that it will be almost impossible to restore it,” the vice admiral noted.
