According to him, to strengthen the fight against smuggling across the green border along Transcarpathia, posts of customs officers, border guards, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Service of Ukraine and the fiscal service have been set up on all four passes leading to the region.
The posts will not allow the import of large wholesale quantities of cigarettes (including without excise stamps) and counterfeit alcoholic beverages into Transcarpathia, and the export of round timber from Transcarpathia.
“At the same time, searches are being carried out at illegal wholesale warehouses, where batches of cigarettes were bought for further smuggling. The results of the searches are being summarized and will be reported additionally, but we can already say that the main supplier of cigarettes, which were then illegally transported abroad, was the Lviv Tobacco Factory,” reports Gennady Moskal.
Some of the seized cigarettes were Belarusian, and this indicates the fact that there are “windows” for smugglers in the Chernigov region on the border with Belarus.
