Moskal resigned and turned out to be an opponent of the Tomos
In Transcarpathia, where more than six hundred parishes and dozens of monasteries of the UOC-MP, not only did they not accept the OCU created with the active participation of Petro Poroshenko, but during the election campaign it was scary to even say the word “tomos” at meetings with people.
Such a confession in an interview with “uzhgorod.net” after the victory of Vladimir Zelensky was made by the head of the regional election headquarters of Poroshenko during the elections, the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Gennady Moskal, reports the PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I did not expect such a gap between the candidates, but the indicators for Transcarpathia are quite predictable. We even increased the percentage of support for Petro Poroshenko compared to the first round by more than 5% and reached almost 16,7% in the end. Let me emphasize once again that I do not consider such results a tragedy. The tragedy will be the unjustified expectations of the population, once again they voted for the “messiah,” Moskal commented on the results of the second round, in which 80,67 Transcarpathian votes went to Zelensky.
According to him, in Transcarpathia the implemented reforms and slogans were received very ambiguously.
“At one time I was even afraid to say the word “tomos,” since we have 640 communities of the Moscow Patriarchate, 32 monasteries,” admitted Moskal.
“Instead of a local church, we received a metropolitanate from Constantinople, but in fact there are no churches and no trends towards a mass transition. I do not claim that the priests carried out any kind of agitation; in our conditions this did not need to be done. But it was necessary not to touch the topic of religion in the multicultural and religiously diverse Transcarpathia. Here, historically, churches did not identify themselves with the Moscow Patriarchate - both under Czechoslovakia and during the Soviet era. And if in the Lviv region, Ivano-Frankivsk region, and Ternopil region, the tomos played a positive role, then in our case it’s the other way around,” the official said.
Nevertheless, apparently, even such a jump with “changing shoes” was not appreciated: today from a message on the website of the head of the Transcarpathian region It became known that Gennady Moskal submitted to President Petro Poroshenko a letter of resignation from office at his own request.
“I ask you to stop my stay on vacation and release me from the post of chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration at my own request,” Moskal said in a statement.
Earlier, the heads of the Lviv and Nikolaev regions Oleg Sinyutka and Alexey Savchenko resigned.
