Such an opinion Head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Gennady Moskal stated on his Facebook page, who in 1997-2000 worked as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
“Pavel Sheremet (like Ukrayinska Pravda as a whole) gave a real picture of what was happening in the country, and many did not like this. This is where we should look for the reasons for the crime. The very fact of which is an indicator that something completely wrong is happening with the crime situation,” he wrote.
Moskal noted that this is the second contract killing of a leading journalist of Ukrayinska Pravda.
“But if there was no political will to investigate the murder of Georgy Gongadze without delay (it appeared only in 2005, and then the crime was promptly solved), now there is political will, but there are no high-class investigators and operatives,” he said.
According to Moskal, “the professional core of the Ukrainian police has been emasculated by the so-called reform.”
“Under the slogans of “lustrate everyone and drive them in the neck,” law enforcement agencies were left without professionals. But no one lustrated bandits, robbers, murderers, they remained in their places,” he emphasized.
Moskal believes that the new police will not be able to solve the murder of Sheremet.
“I really want the killers of Pavel Sheremet to be detained and brought to justice, I hope that this will be done. But I personally don’t know a single professional active police officer who could lead an investigative team and solve this crime. Patrol police with three months of training obviously won’t reveal it,” he noted.
