Moscow - Kyiv, December 8 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Stamm) - The stormy “Volodin spring” of Crimea in the East of Ukraine ends with the quiet “Surkov autumn”. The Kremlin has finally abandoned the idea of independence of the DPR and LPR. “As our interlocutor, close to the Novorossiya project, noted, they want to “push the republics back into Ukraine on the terms of some kind of autonomy,” writes the Moscow New Newspaper.

Three sources of Novaya at once - in the presidential administration, in the government and directly in the DPR and LPR - confirmed: we can forget about an independent Novorossiya. Vladislav Surkov is “pushing” the eastern regions back. And also - under the leadership of Surkov - the new deputy head of the AP department for socio-economic cooperation with the CIS countries, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, Igor Udovichenko, who replaced Boris Rapoport in this post. Rapoport's resignation was also associated with a change in sentiment inside the Kremlin. As the Popular Front of Novorossiya put it, “Slava felt that Rapoport was not coping well, although we generally worked very well.” It should be noted that Rapoport enjoyed great authority among the top officials of the separatist movement and was considered an “ideological supporter.”

Surkov’s main critic was and remains Igor Strelkov, who openly accused the presidential aide of the failure of the “Russian Spring.” Among other things, conspiracy theorists also see Surkov as the initiator of the purges of prominent Novorussians: first he removed Strelkov-Girkin from the game, and then Igor Bezler (Demon) and Ataman Kozitsyn. All three were considered overly independent in Moscow and did not even fit into the formally existing borders of the separatist republics, the newspaper writes.

Operations to eliminate prominent separatists were, according to our information, supervised by General of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces Sergei Surovikin. In particular, Bes “with honors and kindly” was sent to Crimea. It was worse in the case of Kozitsyn: his people were accused of stealing coal and selling it to Ukrainian entrepreneurs.

Of the entire trio, only Strelkov-Girkin still feels like a hero, Novaya continues. The former commander-in-chief of the armed forces of Novorossiya gives interviews in Moscow, describes his role first in the Crimean and then the Donbass operation, shares his opinions and hopes for the future of Novorossiya. The presidential administration, however, notes that by this “Igor Ivanovich is in vain attracting attention to himself. The past cannot be returned."

But in Donetsk itself, the rank and file have not forgotten about Igor Ivanovich and are waiting for his return. There he is still a hero; his name is associated with the continuation of the “struggle for the liberation of the southeastern regions.” The leaders of several armed groups - for example, Givi and Motorola - swear allegiance to him, as they stated to Novaya Gazeta.

The purge of independent commanders in Moscow is called the “assertion of unity of command” by Alexander Zakharchenko. A source close to the Novorossiya project claims that the richest oligarch of Ukraine, Rinat Akhmetov, asked Vladislav Surkov for Zakharchenko.
