The Moscow press sarcastically criticizes the disruption of the construction schedule for power plants in Crimea
Derailment of the construction schedule for new power plants in Crimea due to the refusal of Western companies to supply turbines to the peninsula - a clear demonstration of the crisis in Russian industry, Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes today.
“The gas superpower does not know how to build gas power plants,” the publication states.

“It is not yet clear how the story with power plants in Crimea will develop further, but one thing is clear: it once again shows the sad state of affairs in Russia with engineering personnel, its own industrial production and mechanical engineering,” the newspaper notes, emphasizing that import substitution in the case of it didn't work with the turbines.
“After the announcement of sanctions, we received a systemic problem; it affects many areas of production and mechanical engineering. Because we need to either fully integrate into the world economy, or, if we make a bid for an independent foreign policy position on a number of geopolitical issues, actively develop our own production and become independent. This, generally speaking, became clearly clear a couple of years ago. But so far little has been done in this direction,” says Ivan Andrievsky, first vice-president of the Russian Union of Engineers.
As the agency reminds "New day", initially the first units of new thermal power plants in Crimea with a capacity of 235 MW were supposed to be put into operation in 2017, the second - in 2018.
