Moscow observer: “Trump mooed, but did not give milk”
Under the new US President Joseph Biden, Washington’s anti-Russian course will not go away, but Moscow’s space for political maneuver will expand and new opportunities will open up.
International affairs observer Mikhail Rostovsky writes about this, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in Moskovsky Komsomolets.
“From the point of view of Russia’s interests, the outgoing US president behaved like a cow that moos very melodiously, but at the same time does not give milk at all. Trump did not cause any real damage to NATO. Both the leaders of other member countries of the alliance, and American politicians and officials only sabotaged all the efforts of the president and waited for the moment when someone more “sane” would replace him. Now this “sane” person has appeared in the person of Biden, and everything has returned to its usual place,” writes Rostovsky.
According to him, “so far, with the advent of Biden, Russia has lost only what it never really had.”
“The Trump era should not be missed. We must take advantage of the opportunities that the advent of the Biden era will likely open up for Moscow. Of course, these possibilities are extremely limited. The hostility towards Russia of the top of the Democratic Party, the top of the Republicans, Congress, the intelligence services, the military, the elite of the journalistic community - with Biden coming to power, all this will not go away,” the author predicts.
He believes that it would be a major miscalculation not to see the opportunities for Russia associated with the new US president, since Biden’s strategy is, among other things, to resume America’s active participation in the system of international relations.
“I’ll sum it up. Under the new US President, America will continue to try to hit Russia as hard as possible. But at the same time, our space for maneuver can greatly expand. For me, this is much preferable to the situation that existed and still exists under Trump with the freezing and freezing of everything and everyone,” concluded Rostovsky.
