The Moscow Patriarchate has taken up the task of exposing Moscow agents
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin gave reason to suspect himself of working for Moscow.
This is stated in the publication “Another scandal in the Foreign Ministry: Minister Klimkin speaks about the Church as a “Moscow agent” on the website of the information and educational department of the UOC.
Indignation in the UOC was caused by a recent publication by the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on church topics.
“By resorting to absurd thoughts about the church-historical events of antiquity, the minister allows himself a whole series of accusations against the confession that unites Ukrainians living throughout the territory of our state. In the end, he declares: “The Moscow Patriarchate has nothing to do in Ukraine at all.”
Undoubtedly, these words confirm that the highest representatives of the Ukrainian government are far from unanimous in their views on the future of millions of Ukrainian believers belonging to the UOC. How can one trust the assurances of statists in protecting the free choice of religion by citizens after public calls by a high-ranking official containing signs of inciting interfaith hatred and discrimination based on religious beliefs?
Klimkin’s scandalous statement appeared almost at the same time when the President of Ukraine called everyone who calls for taking away the churches of the UOC “Moscow agents”, which, in fact, corresponds to the idea of the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to deprive the existence of this Church in the Ukrainian state. Therefore, a simple article on a topic far from the direct duties of the minister has cast doubt on which state the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Mr. Klimkin, is actually an agent of,” the message says.
