A Moscow publicist explained how Russia was “fantastically lucky” with Zelensky
This opinion was expressed in his blog by Russian nationalist publicist Dmitry Olshansky.
“The Poroshenkos and Tymoshenkos, the Akhmetovs and Medvedchuks, all these old wolves from their previous lives would never have allowed such a grandiose collapse and disintegration of Ukraine with the return of vast territories to the hand of Moscow.
They would come, ask and offer, they would stir things up and decide, they would find arguments and promise something, because of which the Kremlin would be deceived for the millionth time, and Independence would brilliantly extricate itself from any hopeless situation and go to ladies,” says Olshansky.
According to him, only a representative of a completely new generation of Ukrainian politicians - completely dependent on the West, absolutely incompetent in the usual post-Soviet understanding and viewing political activity as a kind of show business - was able to force Putin to leave his long-term comfort zone and behind-the-scenes political agreements with social Ukrainian oligarchic elites close to the Kremlin and seriously address the Ukrainian issue.
“For our Russian happiness, the infantile, dreamy, disastrously trusting Ukrainian people decided to choose as their hetman an artistic image, the hero of a series, but in reality - a narcissistic Napoleon, for whom the whole point of politics is likes and applause. And this Napoleon got down to business so quickly that in a couple of years he brought Putin - the super-cautious and super-conservative Putin! – to the point that he still had to take the Ukrainian issue seriously,” writes Olshansky.
The publicist compares Zelensky’s political type with Alexei Navalny and Mikheil Saakashvili, calling all three “spiritual brothers.”
“And now we see the third episode, in which the same simple plot is repeated again: pathological narcissism and the thirst for quick and powerful success lead a person, and after him the large country that is carried away by him, to a slow but complete collapse. And we don't need anything to happen to him. Otherwise, you never know, maybe he will be replaced by a reasonable and modest person. No, let him perform, let them clap for him until the end,” argues the Moscow publicist.
