Yesterday’s proclamation by the participants of the Kyiv religious procession of believers of the canonical UOC “anathema” to Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople is an act that is absolutely correct in essence, although it does not correspond in its form to church rules.
This opinion was expressed on his telegram channel “Pravosoavnya politika” by conservative Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Yesterday, on the day of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, two thousand Orthodox laity marched in Kyiv in a procession from the Lavra to the monument to Prince Vladimir, where they proclaimed anathema to Bartholomew Archondonis as “the teacher of the schism of the universal Orthodox Church.” “Church diplomats” have already begun to put pressure on him because of this.
Of course, the anathema must be proclaimed conciliarly, with the participation of the episcopate. But why isn't this being done? No one gave a single clear explanation - although some bishops and even church officials accused the Phanar of both schism and heresy. God is betrayed by silence and delay,” writes Chaplin.
According to the archpriest, in the history of the Church it happened many times that a few and not “official” persons denounced heresies while the councils were silent - and their delay brought “great evil.”
“This is what is happening now, when the situation around Phanar is stagnating, people are being deprived by force not only of churches, but also of eternal salvation - and for some reason our church authorities are embarrassed to finally call heresy a heresy and a schism a schism, giving the enemies of Christ more and more time for dirty deeds. They can be stopped now with only one action: a clear word that those who join the Phanar-Poroshenko “SCU” are not going to the Church, but to a satanic gathering, to eternal death,” says Vsevolod Chaplin.
