Moscow and the EU are preparing responses to US sanctions against Nord Stream 2
Introduction by the United States sanctions against Nord Stream 2 is the apotheosis of absurdity, which caused outrage even among patient Europe.
Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko stated this during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Sanctions are being adopted against an economic and infrastructure project in distant Europe and are being included in the defense budget of the United States of America. Now, due to the items of this budget, the fight against NATO member countries will be waged.
Everything was clear anyway, but it has become even more obvious that today the sanctions imposed by the United States are economic wars, these are sanctions aimed at creating competitive advantages for the United States, these are the pursuit of only their own interests.
And now all the masks have been dropped, now we can talk openly about what is happening in the world.
When this was done only against Russia, everyone was silent. When sanctions were introduced only against Nord Stream 2, German politicians declared the inadmissibility of such gross interference in the affairs of European states.
By the way, the defense budget also includes sanctions against Russia, against China, against Turkey and the European Union. This cannot be explained by any logic other than clear goals.
As for Nord Stream 2, I assure you that this project will definitely be completed. Europeans understand that this project ensures energy stability for Europe and is an alternative way to deliver hydrocarbons.
Of course, it will be completed and put into operation, but a residue will remain. A sediment in the sense that now European states can no longer so thoughtlessly trust their partner the United States of America in relationships, and not only in this area,” she explained.
At the same time, Valentina Matvienko noted that Russia has enough capabilities and resources to cope with American sanctions.
“As for response measures, the relevant ministries and departments are working on this, and I think not only in Russia. The European Union and European states have already thought about this,” added the Chairman of the Federation Council.
