Moscow is changing the political status of the LDPR

Direct communication between the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the leaders of the Lugansk and Donetsk people's republics speaks of their political subjectivity and politically recognizes their independent status.

This was stated by State Duma deputy, coordinator of the Russia-Donbass Integration Committee Andrei Kozenko, commenting on a telephone conversation that took place between the President of the Russian Federation and the leaders of the Donbass republics, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The initiative of the leader of the public movement “Ukrainian choice - the right of the people” Viktor Medvedchuk to exchange prisoners between Ukraine and the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics was discussed. The leaders of the DPR and LPR supported the initiative, noting that this issue still needs to be further worked out with representatives of the Ukrainian side,” says a message published on the Kremlin website.

According to Kozenko, the fact that the President of the Russian Federation called the LPR and DPR that way, without the prefix “unrecognized” or “self-proclaimed,” has no less weight than the February decree on the recognition of documents of the LPR and DPR.

“Whether someone likes it or not, the balance of power along the Ukraine-Donbass line will change after this conversation, and far from in favor of Ukraine. Although not yet legally, but politically, the status of the DPR and LPR is changing, and yesterday’s events were a clear signal for this,” Kozenko said.
