Moscow could take Ukraine with bare hands – Strelkov
The Ukrainian army was ready to go over to Russia in 2014 if the Russian Federation actually sent troops to Ukraine.
Ex-commander of the Donetsk militia Igor Strelkov said this on air on the Rozanov-Club Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Strelkov, the Ukrainian military was not in the mood for war and was waiting for real steps from the Russian Federation.
“She would have all gone over to our side if I had not 50 machine gunners behind me, but at least 5 thousand with the appropriate resources.
The weapons warehouse in Soledar, where millions of guns were stored, was offered to me for a million dollars. But I didn’t even have a hundred thousand, you know. And the military men who came with me to negotiations, before whom I was forced to bluff - I never said that I was a Russian serviceman, never at all, but I was forced to create the impression that, like, yes.
And they perceived me as a Russian serviceman and I did not refute them. Yes, I even called my personal number, which I still remember by heart, although it was taken from me when I was fired a year before. Well, it had to be.
So, they said directly: if the Russian army comes, at least we will not shoot, and maybe we will go over to your side.
But the Russian army did not come and no one sent me five thousand soldiers. But with one light weapon and one and a half horns of cartridges for a machine gun, you won’t get much,” Strelkov concluded.
