“The Department of Internal Market Protection of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) counted 34,22% of the dumping margin of Victor Pinchuk’s Interpipe on sales of solid-rolled wheels (CCW) in the EAEU in 2016. The decision to introduce a duty must be made within one and a half months. Interpipe accounts for more than 99% of wheel imports into the EAEU. The investigation was carried out at the request of the Vyksa Iron and Steel Works (VMZ, capacity 850 thousand wheels per year), part of OMK Anatoly Sedykh, and the Nizhny Tagil Iron and Steel Works (NTMK, 550 thousand wheels) Evraz Roman Abramovich and partners. In 2013–2016, they accounted for 97% of wheel production in the EAEU, another 3% was from the Kazakh Prommashkomplekt. The complaint was filed in December 2016, the applicants insist on increasing the duty for Interpipe from 4,75% to 51%,” the publication notes.

The publication's source among Russian metallurgists says that from 2013 to 2016, Interpipe increased its market share from 10% to 24% due to dumping, and Russian players kept prices down until the end of 2016, despite rising costs and investments in modernization.

The Russian Steel Association, which unites metallurgists of the Russian Federation, stated that it supports measures “to eliminate unfair competition, which Interpipe has been applying for many years both in the EAEU market and in the markets of third countries, for example in the USA and the EU.”

Let us recall that the owner of the Interpipe company, Viktor Pinchuk, is the son-in-law of ex-President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma. Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, Pinchuk, who owns a number of Ukrainian TV channels, named one of the main propagandists war in Donbass.
