Moscow will not allow Zelensky to promote himself in the Normandy format
The meeting in the “Normandy Format” should not become a reason for personal PR of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this today at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“For us, the main thing is not when to meet, but why. If we meet only so that President Zelensky can say that a group of respected leaders has gathered on his initiative, and on this he considers his mission completed, then we do not need this,” the minister noted.
He recalled that after the last meeting in the Normandy format in Paris in 2019, Ukraine did not fulfill its obligations.
“There are many examples of how the Ukrainian side sabotaged ceasefire agreements. Therefore, it is important for us to have a clear understanding, achieved in advance, of what we will be going to meet in the Normandy format at one level or another. Such work is currently underway. Our approaches are absolutely justified, and we expect that they will be repeated many times in both Berlin and Paris, because there is no hope for Kyiv. The only hope is that Berlin and Paris will force Mr. Zelensky to fulfill what he has repeatedly promised,” Lavrov said.
