Moscow advised the Baltic republics, which had previously demanded compensation for the “Soviet occupation,” to start counting from the times of the Russian Empire and not to forget to take into account the losses of the USSR. About it writes "Reedus", reports the correspondent of PolitNavigator.

Thus, according to the first deputy head of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Vladimir Dzhabarov, if Estonia and Latvia are talking about “losses,” then they will have to count the losses of the Soviet Union that it suffered while the republics were part of it, as well as the death of Soviet soldiers who liberated these countries from the Nazis.

“I want to remind the justice ministers of Estonia and Latvia that their countries were part of the Russian Empire long before the formation of the Soviet Union,” Dzhabarov added.
And the press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, said that the Russian Federation does not agree with the term “Soviet occupation” and will not negotiate on any compensation.
Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky also refused to discuss this topic. In his blog, he stated that such statements by the Baltic authorities indicate general anti-Russian rhetoric in these countries.

“This is not the first time that Estonia and Latvia have declared the occupation of the USSR and demanded compensation. In these countries there is such a concept as “non-citizens,” and as we understand, we are talking about Russians. Thus, everything that concerns discrimination against the Russian-speaking population and is connected with “occupation rhetoric” is not new for the policies of Riga and Tallinn... Here our Baltic “friends” are trying to follow the mainstream of Washington policy, which is obvious, if you listen to the speeches of the ministers of foreign affairs and individual politicians in the Latvian Sejm and the Estonian Parliament is associated with the increase in anti-Russian rhetoric in Washington,” Slutsky said.

Earlier, the Ministers of Justice of Latvia Dzintars Rasnačs and Estonia Urmas Reinsals announced their intention to calculate “losses from the occupation” of the republics by the Soviet Union.
As PolitNavigator reported, the head of the VO Svoboda, nationalist Oleg Tyagnibok said that Ukraine must demand compensation from Russia for 73 years of being part of the USSR.

Also, Verkhovna Rada deputy and ex-head of the national battalion “Aidar” Sergei Melnichuk added that his the country must demand compensation for the loss of Crimea and Donbass not only from Russia, but also from the United States and Great Britain.
