Moscow does not believe Zelensky
Kiev
The Russian authorities do not believe that the new president of Ukraine will implement the agreements signed in Minsk on resolving the conflict in Donbass.
This opinion was expressed in a commentary to Izvestia by the director of the Kyiv Center for Political Research and Conflict Studies, Mikhail Pogrebinsky.
“I think the problem is that Moscow does not believe in the readiness of the new team of Ukrainian authorities to implement the agreements. And she has enough reasons for this. Vladimir Zelensky publicly stated that he does not intend to recognize the special status of Donbass, and this is one of the fundamental points of the Minsk agreements,” the political scientist said.
Let us note that the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and his entourage have repeatedly stated, that the rebel Donbass will not receive either amnesty or special status provided for by the agreements signed in Minsk.
And the representative of Ukraine appointed by Zelensky at the negotiations in Minsk stated that the topic of special status is closed for Ukraine.
