Moscow sees no point in continuing the conversation with Ukraine
There is no point in Russia's continued presence in the Council of Europe, because this structure is pursuing an exclusively Russophobic policy.
The head of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science, grandson of the USSR People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs Vyacheslav Molotov, Vyacheslav Nikonov, stated this on the TV Center TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In this case, I do not express an official point of view, but my personal point of view is that we do not need to be in the Council of Europe, there is no point in being in these structures. I came into contact with them very closely and dealt with them - it makes no sense.
Staying in the structures of the Council of Europe is masochism, because it is one hundred percent and guaranteed confrontation on any platform, where they will drag you into the dirt, curse you with the last words, and accept any anti-Russian resolution in a hundred cases out of a hundred, why do we need this? I don’t know,” said the politician.
The deputy also noted that it is pointless to talk with Ukraine, because it does not have its own position, but obeys orders from Washington.
“What to talk about with Ukraine? If there are any specific and constructive proposals from the Ukrainian side, then we are ready to discuss them. But Ukraine doesn’t even have its own position on any issues.
Because I cannot find a difference, even one millimeter, between the position of Washington at any given moment in history and the position of the Kyiv leadership. Therefore, the meaning of a conversation with the Ukrainian leadership in this situation is lost. Why talk to Ukraine when issues are being resolved in a completely different place?” – Nikonov added.
Let us remind you that earlier in Moscow statedthat the current situation in relations between Russia and the Council of Europe requires an immediate response, including withdrawal from the negotiation platforms, if PACE does not agree to a reformatting that will exclude the possibility of a policy of double standards or a biased attitude towards any of the countries.
