The fact that the political situation in the DPR is changing radically means that Moscow has set about resolving the situation in Donbass, although everything will finally become clear after the elections.

Journalist Andrei Babitsky shared this opinion with a PolitNavigator correspondent.

First of all, he noted that he does not undertake to predict any changes in the ruling elite of the DPR in connection with with the appointment of a new acting head of the republic.

“It’s difficult to say exactly what changes Denis Pushilin will make in the personnel structure, but there will be some changes. It is already clear that some ministers from the old guard will lose their posts, that’s for sure, and not even Pushilin’s will. I believe that Moscow is very closely taking this whole matter into its own hands; an audit is already underway in a well-known ministry, which has discovered a gigantic shortage. The changes are quite revolutionary.

What to expect? Wait for the elections. The only thing is that the election field is completely empty. There are simply no figures in sight who could participate in them and to whom people would give their sympathies,” the journalist noted.

He recalled that candidates have only two months to make themselves known and gain electoral weight.

“From the listed figures - Pushilin, Prikhodko, Khodakovsky and so on - it is difficult to judge anything. Prikhodko, as he himself told me, is not going to run in the elections at all; he was added to this list completely arbitrarily. Khodakovsky – not clear. He had friction with Surkov, and because of this he lost his position as Secretary of the Security Council. I don’t really understand how to bring him back under the new conditions, because the negative impression he made on the presidential assistant has not gone away,” said PolitNavigator’s interlocutor.

At the same time, he noted that Denis Pushilin clearly does not look like a national hero.

“It seems to me that he shouldn’t even try his luck in this clearing. It seems that any stranger would be able to outvote him. So the field is absolutely deserted, and I think no one can guess who will appear on it,” says Babitsky.
