Moscow responded to the US with counter-sanctions
By decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, from now on countries that are recognized as unfriendly in Russia do not have the right to recruit personnel for their diplomatic missions from Russian citizens.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The day before, a presidential decree was published, which contains a number of measures to implement already existing federal laws, according to which now those states that are unfriendly cannot recruit employees for their diplomatic and consular missions among citizens of the Russian Federation. Now we are awaiting the release of a government order to ensure the implementation of the relevant decree.
On the question of who these most unfriendly states are, a list is now being formed. Naturally, this government order is being prepared in an interdepartmental format, but as we understand perfectly well, the whole story began with the next round of absolutely unfriendly actions by the United States on the introduction of new sanctions against our country and another groundless expulsion of Russian diplomats. As you understand, and as I can confirm, the USA naturally appears on the list. You will find out the names of the remaining states when the government order is published and the corresponding order appears,” Zakharova said.
