Moscow demanded that Kyiv immediately release Vyshinsky
The arrest in Ukraine of the editor-in-chief of RIA Novosti-Ukraine, Kirill Vyshinsky, is “a blatant case in the history of the relationship between journalism and government.”
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told reporters about this today.
“The arrest of a journalist on trumped-up charges of treason is a flagrant violation of Ukraine’s international obligations in the field of media freedom. We demand the release of Vyshinsky without any conditions,” Zakharova said.
She said that the consideration of the journalist's defense complaint against his arrest was postponed indefinitely due to the liquidation of appeal courts in Ukraine.
“There is no data on the opening date of the new court. Consideration of the appeal can take place after the expiration of the period of detention, that is, on November 4. The rights to appeal will be violated. In this area, the situation in Ukraine resembles complete chaos,” Zakharova said.
