“While our clowns are in the Rada accepted an appeal to the Americans to give Ukraine the status of a NATO partner (that is, they simply shook the air), Russia continued to drive another nail into the coffin of the Ukrainian economy. That coffin into which Poroshenko kicked us with the blockade of Donbass. March 22 Russian The State Duma finally banned transfer of funds from Russia to Ukraine using foreign payment systems. Essentially, creating a blockade for the transfer of money from Ukrainian migrant workers. And this, if we look at data from recent years, is more than $1 billion,” the expert notes.

“Formally, this is a response to the ban on Russian payment systems in Ukraine, adopted last year,” he continues. – But in fact, this is another step towards forcing Poroshenko to comply with the Minsk agreements and not try to use pressure on Russian banks as blackmail. Plus - an additional argument for holding early parliamentary elections, which Moscow also wants to push through. Because, let’s be honest, Putin is not going to solve anything with Poroshenko.”

According to the political scientist, the ban on money transfers from Russia will cause three extremely unpleasant consequences for Ukraine:

“1) Further impoverishment of millions of Ukrainians, who were supported by their relatives who sent money from Russia;

2) Strengthening the protest sentiments of Ukrainians. And in particular – hatred of Poroshenko as the reason for the ban on money transfers;

3) Increasing pressure on the exchange rate (together with the lack of foreign currency receipts from already “squeezed out” enterprises in the Donbass). Therefore, it is even difficult to predict what dollar exchange rate we will ultimately arrive at.”

“Question: when the respected president decided not to interfere with the blockade for a month and a half, and then imposed sanctions against Rosbanks, was he acting on the instructions of the Kremlin? Performed an intelligence task for the final destruction of Ukraine? Or is this just plain stupidity? Or is it greed that could not be appeased?” Korneychuk asks.

As PolitNavigator reported, Ukrainian economists suggestthat the ban on Russian payment systems in Ukraine is connected with Kyiv’s attempt to complicate the lives of Ukrainians associated with Russia.
